What Is Speed Bingo?
Speed Bingo takes the CrossBingo formula and compresses it into a frantic 3-minute sprint. Instead of solving clues at your leisure, you race against a countdown timer. The goal is not just to complete a bingo line but to solve as many cells as possible before time runs out.
Key difference from Classic: In Speed Bingo, the timer never stops. Every second spent thinking is a second lost. Quick reflexes and a broad vocabulary are your greatest assets.
Rules
- A 5x5 CrossBingo grid appears with 25 crossword-style clues (center is free).
- A 3-minute countdown timer starts immediately.
- Click any cell, read the clue, and type your answer as fast as you can.
- Correct answers mark the cell. Wrong answers incur a 5-second penalty added to your elapsed time.
- The round ends when time expires or you clear the entire board.
- Your score is based on cells solved, lines completed, and time remaining.
Difficulty Levels
- Beginner (4 minutes) — Longer timer with easier vocabulary clues.
- Standard (3 minutes) — The default experience. Balanced clue difficulty.
- Expert (2 minutes) — Shorter timer with harder vocabulary and trivia clues.
- Blitz (90 seconds) — For pros only. Extremely tight time and challenging clues.

Speed Bingo Strategy
Scan Before You Start
Spend the first 5 seconds scanning all visible clues. Identify the easiest ones so you know exactly where to click first.
Skip Hard Clues Instantly
If a clue takes more than 5 seconds of thought, move on. You can always come back. Spending 15 seconds on one hard clue is catastrophic at this pace.
Build Toward a Line
Focus on completing one bingo line first for the 500-point bonus. A row through the center is ideal since the free space gives you a head start.
Maintain Your Streak
The speed streak bonus (+50 for 3+ consecutive correct answers) rewards accuracy. Avoid guessing wildly since wrong answers break streaks and add time penalties.
